A Big Four professional services firm engaged Taller to co-develop its cloud governance platform and sustain a multi-pod engineering practice across cloud DevOps, SRE, microservices, API engineering, and cloud architecture from 2021 through 2026.

The firm’s cloud discipline could not rely on individual developers making the right call, team by team and region by region. Every new alliance product, region, and compliance regime added another constraint, and applying policy manually created risk that cost far more to fix than to prevent. The goal was to express cloud-environment policy as code and enforce it through the provisioning pipeline, so that every environment a team requested came compliant with the firm’s standards.

Working alongside the firm, Taller engineers co-developed its cloud governance platform, an automated service for provisioning cloud environments backed by the firm’s own cloud portal. It was built on Python services with a durable workflow engine (Temporal) handling the long-running compliance and integration steps. Provisioning that spanned a dozen downstream services and several regional compliance checks would occasionally fail mid-run. Temporal kept track of state through those failures, so the workflow resumed from where it left off rather than starting over.

Cloud provisioning across the firm became faster and more reliable, with fewer errors and lower operational overhead.
