ERP Migration and Integration: Microsoft Dynamics to Oracle

Connecting enterprise systems through the integrations needed for a cleaner operating backbone

The Client · A global manufacturer of professional-grade power tools and accessories

01

A major global manufacturer of professional-grade power tools and accessories engaged Taller in 2021 to support its connected-products software and data platform. The engagement spanned four workstreams: ERP integration and migration, an Azure and Databricks data platform, the React and AWS Serverless diagnostics team, and EDI managed services.

02

Migrating an ERP system (the enterprise software that runs a manufacturer’s core operations like finance, inventory, and orders) was never a single project. It was a multi-year sequence of integrations, each preserving an operational capability the business could not afford to lose mid-transition. The client’s program had to move from Microsoft Dynamics AX to Oracle ERP while keeping its production-floor systems, channel-management workflows, and financial-reporting cadence fully intact.

03

Taller’s team of AX developers managed the integration layer between Dynamics and Oracle and provided technical leadership across the wider migration. Connecting the two ERPs was harder than a typical cutover because both systems held strong assumptions about the same business objects: customer, vendor, and item master data, and pricing logic, each carrying decades of operational habit inside Dynamics. Good integration design preserved the intent behind those habits rather than mechanically copying the old structure. Taller used the Azure integration stack (Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, and the integration runtime) to handle the message-passing between systems, and built the API layer that translated between the two ERPs' models of the same objects.

04

Taller delivered the ERP integration phase cleanly, and one Taller developer was promoted into a leadership role on the client’s broader migration program — a signal that the engagement had compounded into expertise the program wanted to keep.
